What is DTG printing?
Direct to garment (DTG) printing works like an inkjet printer for clothing. The design is printed straight into the fabric, then heat cured.
On white and light garments the ink sits inside the fibres, so you can hardly feel the print at all. On dark garments a white base layer is printed first so the colours stay bright, which is why dark garments cost a little more.
Best for
- Photographic and full-colour designs with no cost per colour.
- One-offs, samples and small runs, with no minimum order.
- A soft, flush finish on 100% cotton tees and sweatshirts.
Cotton only
DTG ink only bonds properly to natural cotton fibres, so we print DTG on 100% cotton garments. Poly-cotton blends can be printed, but the print may fade after washing.
For polyester, blends, sportswear or workwear, choose DTF printing instead.
Our DTG printer
We use a Texjet Echo DTG printer. It prints white ink and offers multiple strike options for light and dark garments, so it can turn round efficient runs of digital prints.
Artwork
Send a high-resolution PNG (300 dpi at print size), ideally with a transparent background, or a vector file. Lower-quality images can be printed, but the result will be softer.
Prices
DTG prints start from £2.99 on white garments. Dark garments, larger prints and extra positions cost more. Send us your design for an exact price.
